This is probably a technique apple has used on their parts. Make thousands more than you need and use the highest quality parts on your flagship devices, take the second highest quality and use that for repairs, the rest can be sold to offical 3rd parties or under the table online in bulk to prevent any loss in the budget and also ruin 3rd party reputation by giving them a poor quality and cheap product. Some parts are too expensive to have an insane amount of extras so things like screens might not make it to 3rd parties but circuit boards or components; yeah, you can get away with that.

There's a mail data transfer service, where you ship a N64 Game Pak, and they ship you your GameCube save card. Nintendo couldn't use them in どうぶつの森＋, because that game would be localized for the west as Animal Crossing. Blathers was supposed to say some piece of dialogue, because they could technically end up in どうぶつの森＋if the player decided to use the mail transfer. The criminal part is they couldn't implement this due to a coding oversight. All paintings that are not genuine have a label; forged/invalid, and the aforementioned two were not labelled as genuine/valid. The code told it to do it for the two paintings, but the check happens after it makes sure they are genuine/valid, and so it doesn't show up as it should. It was also translated into English.

I'm sure people would have thought to do this regardless but kind of shitty to encourage people to go snipe the top spots from kids. Like yeah I am sure there aren't any legitimate 0 year olds playing this game, but there could be 4 or 5 year olds, certainly 7, 8, 9 year olds. Now you are going to have a bunch of try hard dudes in their 30s who desperately want the top spot trying to take it in those categories.
